Investigators have reportedly questioned Atlanta’s Stan Thomas about possibly illicit payments tied to development of a proposed Cayman Islands resort. Thomas has been in the headlines in recent years for his relationship with former Gov. Sonny Perdue and the somewhat spectacular collapse of his real-estate empire. Now, according to news reports, Royal Cayman police say they are investigating allegations that Thomas paid Cayman premier McKeeva Bush as much as $375,000 in 2004.
Now this is wacky. Former DeKalb County police chief Terrell Bolton, who alleges DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis was just out to get him when Ellis fired him last year, now claims a gaggle of motorcyclists targeted him this week on a Dallas, Texas, tollway. One biker struck and damaged his rear-view mirror, Bolton said, while the driver of a nearby pickup truck made an offensive hand gesture.
The Bryan County school board will shell out that much to the dismissed school superintendent, the Savannah Morning News reports. Brewer was asked to hit the road in February. The sum includes $67,000 just for unused vacation — a contract sweetener that some board members regret.
