Ex-Fulton financial supervisor charged with stealing county funds

Fulton County police on Thursday arrested a central figure in an alleged theft of taxpayers’ funds and an alleged cover-up by county commissioners. Nicola Hosier, formerly a financial systems supervisor in Fulton County’s human services agency, faces 15 counts of forgery and credit card theft. Republicans, meanwhile, questioned the timing of the arrest — which came two days after the general election.

GBI agents arrested a Stockbridge lawyer this morning on charges that she forged a judge’s signature in four adoption cases and later lied about it on the stand. Lynn McNeese Swank allegedly forged Fulton County Superior Court Judge Gail Tusan’s name, the GBI said.

Ex-Rep. Charles A. Thomas Jr.: 6 years in prison

The Georgia Supreme Court accepted Charles A. Thomas Jr.’s surrender of his law license today. Maybe he can be a “jailhouse lawyer” while he’s serving his six-year prison sentence for theft and forgery. Thomas, a member of the Georgia House from 1979 through 1994, sold title insurance for Stewart Title Guaranty Co. until losing that privilege in 2004. Since then, Thomas continued to offer title insurance to clients, forging the policies and collecting the premiums for himself.
