Debra L. Jones Bazemore (D-Riverdale)

District 63 (Fulton County)

Debra Bazemore

Debra Bazemore

Debra Bazemore filed her 2016 personal financial disclosure on July 18, nearly four months after it was due. When we called, she said she’d just learned it was overdue when the state ethics commission sent her a late notice.

Bazemore said a campaign aide failed to file the disclosure as well as a campaign finance report that was due in February. “That’s the only reason you don’t have it,” she told us. The two filings cost her $250 in late fees.

Campaign-to-campaign donations

Candidates may give campaign funds to other candidates, a practice that some say provides a legal means to circumvent contribution limits. A 2003 bill to ban such transfers altogether passed in the Senate but died in the House. Bazemore’s campaign has made no such donations.
