Press Club likes me, they really like me

The Atlanta Press Club last night honored Jim Walls (that would be me) with an Award of Excellence in the online/multimedia category for my work on Atlanta Unfiltered. Yay for me.

Other winners for investigative work were Dale Russell of WAGA-TV for the interview that brought down former House Speaker Glenn Richardson and Jaye Watson of WXIA for a great series of stories on mistreatment of an autistic child in the Fulton County school system.

Russell was named overall Journalist of the Year.

The Press Club has posted a full list of finalists on its Web site.

This award and recognition are very well deserved. You are the only reporter that had the courage to report facts that many others knew but didn’t. There are more facts now under their “Gag” Protective Order and just like you did in the story below with your Open Records request, perhaps you can finally report those facts as well.

Congrats for a job well done. Thanks for keeping “real old-school” journalism alive! Wish there were more journalists like you writing and reporting nowdays.
