    The Georgia Supreme Court, for the second time in two months, has told the State Bar to get tougher with lawyers who break the rules. In a unanimous decision, the high court today rejected a reprimand for a lawyer who used falsified documents in a personal injury case. Justice David Nahmias, in a 17-page concurring opinion, picked apart Nerrylle Manning-Wallace’s account of her actions and the bar’s rationale for going along with a reprimand for her.

    Cop oversight panel seeking subpoena power -- and more

    A citizen oversight panel could learn today whether it may compel Atlanta police officers to appear to answer investigators’ questions. The Atlanta Citizen Review Board, at the instigation of member Rod Edmond, may file suit to force officers to cooperate if it does not get subpoena power. Maybe even if it does. UPDATE: On a 13-1 vote, the City Council today granted the board subpoena power and require the police chief to discipline officers who won’t cooperate with it.
