Griffin Circuit’s Johnnie Caldwell resigns judgeship after 15 years
April 19, 2010 — Another one bites the dust: Johnnie L. Caldwell Jr., a Superior Court judge in Fayette and adjoining counties for 15 years, resigned today effective at the end of the week.
In a handwritten letter to Gov. Sonny Perdue, Caldwell said he wanted “time to visit with my grandkids and maybe practice law.”
Caldwell, 63, appointed in 1995 to the Griffin Judicial Circuit post, was re-elected four times without opposition, most recently in 2008. He had served as the circuit’s district attorney for 13 years before that.
